Artist Residency
Treehouse Bavaria Residency offers artists an immersive stay in the Allgäu countryside, providing a distinctive space to explore, reflect, and expand their practice. By welcoming both national and international artists to live and work in the studio of Maximilian Magnus, the residency cultivates an environment where creative processes can unfold without pressure for final production. Instead, the focus is on opening new perspectives through the stillness and character of this unique rural setting.
Residents stay for 7 to 30 days, surrounded by an idyllic landscape of orchards, pastures, and ponds. Horses roam the grounds, chickens provide fresh eggs each morning, and the resident cats often accompany artists on their walks. The Treehouse Garden Park offers a tranquil path through fields and trees, where one may encounter herons, wild ducks, geese, and the occasional kingfisher. These daily encounters with nature allow artists to disconnect from external demands and reconnect with their own rhythm.
The residency is deliberately unstructured, giving artists the freedom to work at their own pace and follow intuitive impulses. There is no requirement to complete a body of work. What matters is the encounter with place—its calm, its expansiveness, and its potential to shift creative trajectories.
Participation in the Treehouse Bavaria Residency is by application and invitation. Selected artists are offered the opportunity to immerse themselves in this quiet corner of Bavaria and engage deeply with their practice in an environment designed to foster clarity, renewal, and artistic growth.
Applications can be submitted to team@treehousebavaria.com.
